LED Curtain Lights Size Guide: 2 × 2 m or 3 × 3 m for Your Balcony or Window?
Partager
Pick the 2 × 2 m (about 6.5 × 6.5 ft) for a window, a small balcony or a wall behind a bed or sofa: the LEDs are closer together and animations look sharper. Go for the 3 × 3 m (about 10 × 10 ft) to cover a large sliding door, a long railing or a house front, when you want coverage more than density. Both have 400 addressable RGB LEDs, the same app and the same animations.
What's the same on both sizes
Before comparing, here's what doesn't change. Both versions of the Glowcony Magic Curtain include:
- 400 individually addressable RGB LEDs, 16 million colors;
- 100+ animations (Santa, Christmas trees, reindeer, snowflakes, scrolling text…);
- custom text and music mode (5 effects);
- control through the free Surplife app (iOS and Android, Bluetooth) plus a remote (battery not included);
- IP65 waterproof rating, 12 V adapter, 20 hooks and a timer.
The real difference: LED density
Since both sizes have the same number of LEDs, the difference is spacing. On the 2 × 2 m, 400 LEDs are spread over about 43 sq ft: the light points are close together, and shapes (a reindeer, a tree, letters) look more detailed, especially up close. On the 3 × 3 m, the same 400 LEDs cover about 97 sq ft: each LED is further apart and the image looks more "open", but it fills a much larger area and reads very well from a distance.
In short: the 2 × 2 m is about sharpness, the 3 × 3 m is about impact from afar.
How to measure your space
For a balcony
Measure the length of the railing where you'll hang the curtain, and the height from the top rail to the balcony floor. If the curtain is longer than the available height, you can fold or neatly tie up the bottom.
For a window
Measure the width and height of the glass. The curtain can overlap slightly on each side: that's fine, it actually frames the window.
For an indoor wall
Behind a headboard or sofa, the width of the furniture is a good guide. A 2 × 2 m covers the width of a queen bed with a little to spare.
Which size for which project
- Standard window (up to about 5 ft wide): 2 × 2 m.
- Small city balcony: 2 × 2 m.
- Bedroom, living room, headboard: 2 × 2 m (up close, density matters).
- Wide sliding door (8 ft and up): 3 × 3 m.
- Long railing or deck: 3 × 3 m, or several curtains side by side.
- House front seen from the street: 3 × 3 m.
What about a very large balcony?
If your railing is 13 to 20 ft long, several curtains side by side look denser than one big one. It's also better value: Glowcony offers 15% off 2 curtains and 25% off 3, with free shipping. You can even mix sizes, like a 3 × 3 m on the sliding door and a 2 × 2 m on the window next to it.
Price
The 3 × 3 m costs a little more than the 2 × 2 m, but covers more than twice the area. So the choice mostly depends on the space you want to fill and how far away people will be looking at it.

FAQ
Does the 3 × 3 m curtain have more LEDs than the 2 × 2 m?
No, both have 400 LEDs. On the 3 × 3 m they're spaced further apart to cover a larger area.
What size LED curtain for a bedroom window?
The 2 × 2 m in most cases. It covers a standard window and animations look sharper up close.
Can I shorten a curtain that's too long?
Don't cut it, but you can neatly fold or tie up the bottom of the strands with zip ties or hooks.
Can I hang two curtains side by side?
Yes, it's a great option for a big balcony, and bundles of 2 or 3 curtains get 15% or 25% off.
